When Buttimer commenced works at the Environ site in Bristol, they required a reliable NDT partner capable of delivering a wide range of inspection services at scale. With the project located over 300 miles from MITS Group’s headquarters and scheduled over a long-term programme, consistency, capability and logistical reliability were critical from day one.

The Challenge

The Environ project is a complex, live construction environment requiring continuous non-destructive testing across multiple disciplines. Buttimer needed a partner that could supply qualified, multi-skilled NDT technicians, maintain full radiography capability on site, and operate safely and efficiently without reliance on local support infrastructure.

The distance from MITS Group’s HQ added an additional layer of complexity, requiring robust planning, dependable personnel, and the ability to sustain long-term delivery from Q2 2025 through to project completion, anticipated in June 2026.

Our Response

MITS Group mobilised a dedicated team of multi-disciplined NDT technicians to support the project on an ongoing basis. Our scope includes radiographic testing (RT), magnetic particle testing (MT), ultrasonic testing (UT) and visual inspection (VT, providing comprehensive coverage across all inspection requirements.

To meet the project’s demands, we established full site radiography capability, enabling inspections to be carried out efficiently and safely despite the site’s distance from our headquarters. Careful resource planning and consistent personnel deployment ensured continuity, reduced onboarding time, and maintained high standards of quality and safety throughout the project lifecycle.
