When MGT Teesside Ltd began operations at the Tees Renewable Energy Plant, the largest dedicated biomass power plant in the world, they needed a trusted partner to support annual shutdowns and ongoing maintenance. That partner was MITS Group.

The Challenge

Tees REP is a landmark project, delivering 299 MWe of combined heat and power to the UK’s grid. With the rope access inspection of boiler tubes for each annual shutdown costing upwards of £550,000, efficiency and accuracy in inspections were critical. MGT Teesside needed a partner who could perform comprehensive thickness checks, educate the site team on inspection processes, and minimise downtime, all while keeping costs in check.
